Calahonda Lions Golf Day at Santa Maria Golf & Country Club 8th June 2009

For the 9th consecutive year Lion David Whitfield was in charge of organising our annual golf day at the fantastic Santa Maria Golf & Country Club.

Approximately 70 golfers, many of whom are members of Santa Maria and continue to offer their support year after year, came to take part.

The prizes were given out for several categories. Over 2,000 euros were raised and we are very grateful to everyone who contributed in many different ways, either by playing golf, buying raffle tickets or bidding in the auction. Again we wish to thank you, both individuals and companies who donated prizes.

This year the money raised went to Aspandem in San Pedro de Alcantara. Pictured are some of the competitors and also John Taylor presenting a cheque to Angel Martinez, Vice President of Aspandem.

The Calahonda Lions were out and about in December in support of their Give

a Kilo Campaign. Members of the Lions braced the elements on the Friday and

Saturday before Christmas, encouraging members of the public to donate an

item of food from their shopping basket or some money in aid of the

orphanage in Malaga. Many thanks to all those who donated.

On Saturday 19th December, the Calahonda Lions held their annual Christmas

Dinner at the  Casablanca Restaurant in Calahonda. The event was well

supported by past, present and hopefully future members and a fantastic

evening was enjoyed by all who attended. Excellent food and entertainment

contributed to yet another successful Lions event.
